Abandoned

I look around,
The air is cold,
I'm all alone,
No one else in the world.
Where can I go,
With no place to run to,
There's nothing  left...
There's nothing left,
I fall to the ground,
And I begin to crawl.
The silence is loud,
It's ringing my ears,
I've had all that I can take,
and I burst into tears.
I'm on the edge,
Of an endless cliff,
And I throw myself off,
Down into the black abyss.

A Lover's Quandary

Some night's I want to whisper,
"Come hold me close my dear,
We'll fade away to nothing,
And let the whole world disappear."
And I'll feel safe wrapped in your arms,
The two of us can do no harm,
I'll be yours and you'll be mine,
And we'll live like this until the end of time.

*Untitled Poem*

As I stand upon my ivory tower,
I watch the clock pass up the hour,
Tick Tock, Tick Tock,
This is my fate,
I’ve done my best,
No more time to waste.
I stand alone,
This battle lost,
Tick Tock, Tick Tock,
I have no cause,
This lonely feeling,
It needs to stop.
He tightens his grip,
Around my neck,
Tick Tock, Tick Tock,
I hear him laugh,
This twisted serpent screams,
“Remember the past!”
The air feels cold,
Like that December,
Tick Tock, Tick Tock,
The light starts to fade,
I’m floating on air,
And I see his face.

Genesis 3:6

I see him there up in the tree,
His tempting voice calls to me,
Those beady eyes and devilish grin,
I can’t look away,
He’s pulling me towards him,
As I come closer,
He starts to hiss.
“You can have it all,
Just do as I say,
Take a bite of this fruit,
Forget that it’s forbidden,
The world can be yours,
Just follow the simple instruction,
One bite of this fruit will unveil what is hidden.”
I touch the fruit up to my lips,
My tongue caresses it with a kiss,
As I bite in,
My eyes are opened,
I’ve just tasted the sweetest poison,
This perfect flavor comes with a consequence,
I’ve just lost my innocence.

My Shepard

Promises whispered in my ears,
Things I wish I didn’t hear.
Those words you used to annihilate
My beating heart,
Which you did break.
Those feelings of pain I held inside,
And every time I saw you the more I died.
Falling deeper and deeper into a pit of despair,
I called out for help but no one was there.
Abandoned and alone,
There was no use,
I started tying knots
And creating my noose.
When a hand reached out and He held on tight,
Then a voice said
“Keep holding on, it will be alright.”
He took my heart and He made it new,
Then He said
“I have a gift for you.”
He gave me a chance to try again,
To have a passion and a reason to live.
Things were great and He stayed by my side,
But somehow something caused us to divide.
My heart is fractured and I stand here broken and confused.
I’m spinning out of control,
I have no direction,
When a menacing voice offers me protection.
This shadowy figure emerges from below,
He says
“I’ve got you this time and I’m not letting go!”
He laughs as I look around trying to escape,
But there is nowhere to run to and I am forced to stay.
“I have something of yours,” He says, “Put it to good use.”
It appeared in his hands and he gives me my noose.
I look up towards the sky,
But instead I see dirt and realize I’m being buried alive.
“Get me out of here!” I cried,
Taking my very last breath.
As my world goes dark,
Thoughts are running through my head.
‘Could I be dreaming this or am I actually dead?’
Then that familiar voice, so soft and kind, says
“I’ve always been here because you are mine,
Don’t let this guy trick you,
For you are not dead,
Wake up from your slumber,
It’s all in your head.”
I open my eyes and I see my life,
But I’m afraid that my passion for it has died.
“How could you?” I yelled,
“I almost lost everything. In fact his offer was so much more tempting!”
Tears filled His eyes as He listened to me rant.
“This is all your fault,
My forgotten past, it came back!
It called to me like a siren’s song.
Then you left me back there to fight it alone!”
He looked at me and said
“You left my heard,
Became my little lost sheep,
And I kept looking for you.
I fought through a storm,
But I wouldn’t give up until I brought you back home.”
“If you did all that for me, then why am I still mad at you?”
“Because your mind just can’t comprehend all the love that I have for you.”

A long lost memory...

The first poem that I'm going to post I actually wrote 6 years ago. I consider it my first real poem, I did silly little rhyming ones when I was younger, but who doesn't? Anyways, I feel like this poem needs an explanation. I wrote it for an English class my Sophomore year of high school. The assignment was to write a poem to the same iambic pentameter as Poe's The Raven. Is it any good? At the point I was in life, yes. I think so at least. I mean, I was 15 years old when I wrote it and it's oh so obviously about a boy. I still remember who, but I'm not telling. I'm showing you this for 2 reasons. One being that it made me realize that I could write. Two being so that you can see how much better I've gotten. You don't have to love it. I don't really care. I'm still impressed by it. If I rewrote it now it would be so much better, but I believe that you should never rewrite a poem once it's done. Editing is a must. But once it's out there as a finished poem, I believe it's set in stone. Plus I enjoy reading the long lost memory of this poem, the emotions I felt they are all coming back to me, but in a good way. It means my poetry still creates a feeling. Anyways, here it is.

Invisible

Have you ever stopped to notice me, not once or twice, never,
Its not like you could ever care for me because you are not able,
And the chance that you know my name, you're treating my heart like some game,
I could never do the same, loving me would only be a fable!
You don't have the abilities, like I said it's just a fable—
I am just, Invisible!

Dead to you is all I am; I could never be a friend,
But this torture will never end because this feeling I can't disable.
Endless days lead to endless nights, — it's something that I cannot fight
Although I try with all my might, dreaming that you'll enable—
No! Loving me is just something that you will never enable. —
Like I said, Invisible!

A Little Known Secret.

To Whom it May Concern,

I'm back to blogging again. But this time it's different. I'm writing poetry. And I'm sharing it with the world. I don't know why I want to. But I do. So in honor of being an artist I researched(AKA googled) the Greek Muses. Finding that the Muse of Love and poetry was called Erato, so I, being a poet, must be inspired by her right? Well, in all actuality I go with my gut. I inspire myself by my life. I am my own Muse. But without the Greeks, the idea of a muse would not exist, at least in the way they were created. I've always been a poet, it took me awhile to become good at it, but I'm to a point where I know that I can share. I don't always get inspired to write...so there could be months or even years between posts. Recently you might see a few. Although, my poems can be a little more on the dark side at times, it doesn't always reflect my current emotions. Long story short: I write, I share, you read. Don't judge me, don't question me, don't think that you suddenly know me better. If you don't like my stuff, oh well. This isn't for you, it's for me. And I'm letting you be a part of it. Feel flattered and complemented. These are my written words and you have the opportunity to read them. So love it or hate it. Relate to it or get confused. Smile or cry. But let me inspire you too.

Sincerely,
Your Poetic Muse
